AT&T officially announced the rugged NEC Terrain handset today, the latest Mil-Spec 810G Android smartphone with AT&T?s enhanced push-to-talk capabilities.?The NEC Terrain goes on sale starting June 21 for $99 with a new two-year contract.
The Terrain is equipped with a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, earSmart technology for echo cancellation (probably good on construction sites), a 5-megapixel camera, a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera, 8GB of storage and support for up to 32GB of additional storage with a microSD card. It also runs on AT&T?s 4G LTE network. Despite those internals, it?s still waterproof and dust proof.
One drawback? The Terrain runs the older Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, though our understanding is that it?s the latest version that supports push-to-talk functionality.
