Statoil Norway, the leading energy company in oil and gas production, concluded the negotiations for a venture with the British oil sector. According to Statoil, the production will start in 2017, with a daily average production of 55,000 barrels of oil.
Statoil CEO Helge Lund took the opportunity to acknowledge the UK government stating: ?Statoil and its partners appreciate the co-operation from the UK government and the approval of the development plan for this landmark project.?
The project at the Mariner heavy oil field is the biggest offshore improvement in the UK since 2003. Statoil will invest 7 billion dollars and will create more than 700 jobs in the Aberdeen area.
